I am one of the people who had the privilege of caring for Frances in later life; My fondest memories being those from earlier years of her time at Millhouse where she would be a fountain of knowledge relaying beguiling tales of her former work with fascinating books, and of her poetic wanders through the countryside. Frances was a driving force in installing a reading corner in the home for everyone to use, and took great pleasure in the decoration and creation of this space. She would re-organise books daily, plump the cushions, and recommend what to read (whether the person she was giving the recommendation to was interested or not!) She would also pick flowers from the garden for the dining tables - always enquire about the well-being of others, offer to help with teas and coffees and generally be beautiful person to have around. Frances always had such a positive attitude beneath anything that troubled her and was one of the first to suggest we all work as a team (both staff and residents) during the "beast from the east" snowstorm and set about guiding other ladies residing at the home folding linen and pairing socks, offered to clean and suggested new recipes to conserve food. There are so many occasions where Frances reinforced her right for fondness from everyone she interacted with. Such an honour to have spent the time with her I did. And to work with her wonderful daughter who I have to say is one of the nicest and loveliest NOK's I have ever encountered, She (Frances) will undoubtedly be held in the highest esteem in the hearts of many for many many more years to come. As will Fiona,
